Economist Thomas Sowell is a national treasure — or, at least, he should be seen that way.

The legacy media and academia do their best to ignore and silence him. He is a direct affront to their Marxist, woke, and racialist narratives. If he were Caucasian, he could be easily dismissed as a racist white guy, but he’s black; tsk, tsk, how inconvenient for them! The Left certainly wishes he would go away, or that he were never born, because he gives lie to their narrative in so many ways. [Post continues below survey.]

I have collected a short list of videos that highlight some of the best of Sowell’s lengthy career in economics education and public affairs. He’s 95 years old and still, it seems, as sharp as ever.

I often watch both older and current videos. I offer below a very brief list (in chronological order, most recent first) of some of those videos, and my brief comments. Some of these videos are re-releases of much older recordings; it is remarkable (or not) how relevant they remain.

1) Sowell Schools AOC on Capitalism vs Socialism

This one just came out, and it’s probably the best in this small sample. Speaking of ‘woke air heads,’ here’s Sowell on Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC).

2) The BRUTAL Truth About the Snow White DISASTER – Thomas Sowell Today
March 23, 2025 | 7:59 minutes | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdB-lUwTrTA

Disney’s recently released remake of Snow White is current news. In this video, Sowell discusses the Snow White financial disaster and the general degeneration of the woke ‘entertainment’ industry.

Rachel Zegler, lead actress in the remake, is what much of the American educational system is currently producing: a woke air-head. She has a very pretty face, so she gets to join other pretty faces in Hollywood, as has been true for generations. Despite all her now-famous derisive attacks on the 1937 Disney film — revolutionary in its day and beloved from then on — I doubt she even realized the original story is from the Grimm Fairy Tales, very popular in the early 19th century and later and legendary in its own right. Disney merely borrowed the (public domain) story to make the now-iconic film classic, as the company did for other projects.

Zegler is unimportant in her own right — merely a symptom of the larger problem in the ‘entertainment’ industry, one hopes a transitory aberration.

3) Watch How Sowell Exposes Obama’s Deception Tactics

Peter Robinson, host of the Hoover Institution’s “Uncommon Knowledge” program, interviews Thomas Sowell about Obama’s presidency. “The road to hell is paved with Ivy League degrees,” Sowell notes.

4) The Most Powerful Argument Against Equality of Outcome
February 25, 2025 | 6:20 minutes | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jETmwBW–KQ

Sowell discusses the disparity of unequal outcomes, both in Nature and in human affairs. It is an excerpt from his 2016 book “Wealth, Poverty, and Politics.” (I had to watch this video a few times before I got it.)

5) Trump is Taking Action – Milton Friedman & Thomas Sowell Said This Many Years Ago

Robinson interviews Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell about the problems of big government … many years ago.

6) DEI Programs: Thomas Sowell Said This 45 Years Ago & No One Listened
January 28, 2025 | 8:06 minutes | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdOp2c6UoLQ

Forty-five years ago, 1980, Sowell and Milton Friedman take on some Lefties at Oxford University (?).

7) The Devastating Legacy of Obama’s Presidency – A Point of No Return
November 18, 2023 | 28:45 minutes | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kd5R8CGpvPg

Robinson interviews Sowell about Obama’s presidency. Sowell can (and does) criticize a black man, in this case Obama, in a way a white critic can’t for fear of the racism charge.

If you’re so motivated:

DO CHECK OUT Sowell’s website, tsowell.com, for an objective, factual compendium of his life and career.

DO SUBSCRIBE to Sowell’s YouTube channel and view the many other videos he’s produced.

DO NOT CHECK OUT Sowell’s page on Wikipedia; I NEVER use that source on politically charged matters.

As I understand the Brothers’ Grimm, they made a fine career by gathering ancient folk tales from Europe and edited them for print media, which was becoming available to common people by early 19th century. Before that time, folk tales were passed down from generation to generation by word-of-mouth. The folk tales may well go back, in oral tradition, for centuries, if not millennia, changing with the human cultures over time.
