Sierra Cochrane at Wisconsin Family Council provided us with this update on the LEAD WI summer camp:
We had a wonderful week of LEAD WI camp this summer! In case you missed it or are still trying to sort through everything that happened in one week, here’s a quick recap of the week:
- A record number of 130 campers attended LEAD Wisconsin this summer! Our biggest camp yet!
- LEAD WI introduced its first year of the Business track. Business campers participated in a business simulation and roleplayed executives in their corporations. On Thursday night they presented their business at the Business Investors Summit.
- Throughout the week, the Media track reporters published six newspapers and four broadcasts. Check out the LEAD Tribune and LEAD News Network broadcasts here!
- The Assembly and Senate tracks worked on their bills throughout the week and presented their bills for a vote in the Capitol on Friday.
- This year we split our time between two keynote speakers:
- Author, podcaster, and worldview speaker Alex McFarland spoke for four sessions throughout Monday and Tuesday. His topics included worldview, absolute truth, and divine retribution.
- Megan Almon joined us for the second half of the week. Campers enjoyed her clear and articulate sessions on abortion, marriage and sexuality, and beauty. Her session on abortion especially impacted campers.
- Other speakers that joined us included:
- Pastor Nik Richards
- Charlie Kirk, Turning Point USA
- Christian couple Brad and Diandra Kuenzi
- We brought back a camper favorite, the Worldview Q&A Session. This year’s panelists were WFC President Emeritus, Julaine Appling; WFC Church Ambassador, Dave Skahen; and Maranatha Baptist University Ethics and Apologetics Professor; Dr. Bryan Brock.
- The red racoons triumphed in this year’s Feats of Strength competition. Campers enjoyed our first ever water game, slip ’n slide kickball.
Here's some of what our campers had to say about LEAD WI 2024!
- “One of the best teen camps I've ever been to. The adults actually care, I’m actually learning things, and I'm having fun.”
- “My LEAD experience was amazing. Starting from last year after camp I was looking forward to this year. I've made new friends and reconnected with old ones. LEAD is my favorite camp ever, and I can't wait to come again next year.”
- “Megan Almon's sessions were phenomenal. She spoke on topics usually kept ‘hush-hush’ in Christian circles.”
- “The business track exceeded my expectations. It was challenging, competitive, and engaging.”
LEAD WI camp is able to make an impact and investment in the next generation because of our generous donors. Thank you so much for your generosity and prayers that support this ministry.
