April 11, 2023: Medical Freedom

NEW Patriots’ April 11 meeting, featuring Tara Czachor of Wisconsin United for Freedom (WUFF) and Scott and Cindy Schara, was one of our best meetings ever! Not in terms of attendance, but in terms of the quality of the presentations.

Tara focused her remarks on vaccine requirements for children in Wisconsin, noting the childhood immunization schedule currently requires 72 vaccine doses for children aged 1 to 18. WUFF is well-organized and vigilant against legislative efforts to add vaccines to the schedule in Wisconsin; it recently scored a victory in Madison when the Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules (JCRAR) voted in favor of suspending rules that would have added the meningococcal vaccine to Wisconsin’s vaccine requirements for 7th and 12th graders. But eternal vigilance is needed: California is currently considering a bill to require children to get the HPV vaccine before they enter 8th grade, and such requirements could easily make their way to Wisconsin.

Importantly, Tara noted, Wisconsin currently has three exemptions to vaccine requirements – medical, religious, and personal conviction – but there are often legislative proposals to remove those exemptions. She noted five states, including California, have removed some or all exemptions. Pro-vaccine groups have started a campaign to get school boards and counties to pass resolutions calling for rejection of the religious exemption. “This should not be a state law,” Tara said, “Leave it to parents!”

Scott and Cindy talked about their 19-year-old daughter Grace, who died at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton after medical personnel administered a combination of three drugs that caused acute respiratory failure. Grace’s sister, who was in the room as her sister was dying, and her parents, who were watching via Facetime, begged medical staff to help Grace, but they refused. A doctor had designated Grace as “Do Not Resuscitate” (DNR), without the family’s consent and in defiance of the Schara family’s express wishes that all lifesaving measures be deployed for their daughter.  You can learn more about their story here. The Scharas have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the doctors and nurses; a website for updates on the litigation has been launched here.

Scott encouraged everyone to complete an Advance Directive that very specifically lists all of the things you DON’T want if you are admitted to the hospital: for example, DNR order, ventilator, Remdesivir, jabs, and COVID vaccines specifically.
