Call to Action: Bill 175 (Abortion)

UPDATE: As of November 28, 2023, AB 175 has not been reported out of committee
and is presumed to be "dead on arrival." This is a victory for the pro-life movement.

Patriots Arise!

On April 14th the state legislature introduced Bill 175 and sent it to the Committee on Health and Aging. This bill amends our current abortion law. Bill 175 includes exceptions for rape and incest. Bill 175 is linked here. Chapter 940 of Wisconsin state statutes is linked here; the current law on abortion is section 940.04.

Please take note of the Dunn County Representatives and Senators who are sponsoring this bill: Rep Moses, Rep Summerfield, and Senator James. Also be informed that Rep Moses is the chairman for the Committee on Health and Aging.

On April 15th at the District 3 Caucus for the Republican Party, Representative Derrick VanOrden made it clear to us that he has changed his position on abortion law in Wisconsin. While campaigning for his seat he assured us he is 100% pro-life, no exceptions, from conception to natural death. On Saturday he clearly stated he is in favor of Bill 175 which guts our current abortion law and grants exception for abortion in the instance of rape and incest.

Rep VanOrden has announced Mobile Office Hours which are listed below.

The party line on Bill 175 is that the Supreme Court will rule against our existing law, so we need to create a law in advance of that anticipated ruling. In my humble opinion, there are many problems with this line of thinking.

  • First, Gov Evers has said he will not sign this law if it should pass.
  • Second, the Senate has said should the bill make it to the senate they will not take it up.
  • Third, our leaders are not leading they are acting out of fear, capitulating to an anticipated action rather than bolstering our position and taking a stand.
  • Fourth, they seem to have forgotten that the judicial branch does not have the final say on law. According to our constitution, all three branches have equal authority and should any one branch act unjustly or immorally, the other branches MUST interpose for the people and stand against the tyranny.
  • Fifth,If the Wisconsin Supreme Court tries to overturn the current law, the senate can and should impeach them for legislating from the bench which is a violation of their oath of office. If our legislators will not stand for our pre-born, we must. Life is a moral issue, not a political issue. This is about life, not seats in the government. If they are willing to compromise on life, what else will they compromise on? If we are not willing to stand for life, who will?
